WHO IS THE FREEDIVER COURSE FOR?

This certification course is also the starting point for snorkelers, skin divers, scuba divers and spearfishers without a freediving certification. Children aged 11-14 years can join the Junior Freediver.

The Freediver course is for anyone over the age of 15 interested in learning the fundamentals of freediving, independently of their experience in the water.

WHAT WILL YOU ACHIEVE DURING A FD?

The Freediver Course will cover all the skills you need to safely and comfortably free dive to a depth of up to 20 meters below the surface.

The Freediver course has both a theoretical and practical safety component. We will discuss freediving safety protocols and safety standards, as well as the buddy system (Never Freedive Alone is the Golden Rule of Freediving). Once in the water, we will practice safety and rescue scenarios.

We will also teach you how to control your mind and body underwater and gain confidence in your abilities. We will teach you our unique breathing techniques, as well as yogic breathing (pranayamas), and create the right environment for a successful freediving experience (stress-free, supportive, fun and educational).

Upon successful completion of the course requirements, you will receive an internationally recognised Freediving certification allowing you to dive to 20m, may it be line diving, fun diving, cave diving, wreck diving, etc. We will also provide you with the Freediver course materials to help you maintain your freediving knowledge.

FREEDIVER COURSE DESCRIPTION

Our course lasts 2 days. Each day consists of an academic session in our training centre and an open water session, providing the perfect balance of knowledge and practice without overstimulation or overexertion.

During our knowledge development sessions, you will learn the theory behind freediving (through videos, step-by-step demonstrations, exercises, etc.) and you will practice breathing exercises. These sessions will help expand your free diving knowledge, improve your confidence and familiarize yourself with the proper techniques before the in-water practices. We will also get familiar with the freediving equipment: mask, snorkel, long fins, wetsuit, weight belt and weights.

During the water sessions, we usually have a ratio of 2 students to 1 instructor, with an absolute maximum of 3 students, allowing for greater personalized attention and teaching. The instructor always dives with each and every student. They will never wait at the surface but descend and ascend with you face to face for you to increase your confidence in your new abilities, thus making faster progress, but also to guarantee everyone’s safety.

In the open water, we will practice body positioning and duck diving, which is essential for a good dive, finning techniques to move efficiently, and of course equalization and breathing. We will also practice different freediving disciplines, buddy team work and safety.
